Beachway prescribes to traditional approaches of therapy through individual, group and family therapy session. However, we also believe in a holistic approach to substance abuse treatment. It becomes a vital part of the program to offer dynamic therapeutic modalities and to effectively treat the “entire person.” Some of the modalities allow clients to be reached on a deeper more personal level through several different integrated approaches. Breathwork is one of those approaches in which the clients to use focused breathing to heighten awareness, improve mind-body connection and promote spiritual growth. Another avenue Beachway promotes spiritual growth is through daily morning meditations, where each client as an opportunity to share their insights and feelings associated with a daily spiritual readings. Other spiritual enhancement groups are offered weekly through yoga and focused spirituality groups.
Biofeedback has been integrated as another therapeutic modality that has been adopted at Beachway to promote our holistic approach to drug and alcohol rehab. Biofeedback therapy allows clients to begin to develop control of their minds through meditation utilizing music and vibrations made by our biofeedback chair. Clients enter a deeper meditative state that can assist with a decrease in anxiety, depression, fear, muscle tension, stress, anger and headaches. The biofeedback chair also assists in decreasing symptoms cause by PAWS (Post Acute Withdrawal Symptoms).
Equine assisted therapy has also been integrated into treatment as a holistic approach to substance abuse treatment. This service is offered for those clients who are interested in developing a great sense of self-esteem and discipline. Equine assisted therapy has been proven to assist clients in connection with their emotions and learning new insights about themselves through the connection with an animal. Horses have been used to assist individuals with alcoholism, addiction, depression, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and autism spectrum disorders. This unique service is offered through treatment at Beachway as another holistic approach to the recovery process and to promote trust building.
There are several other holistic approaches that have been adopted into the program to promote treatment of alcoholism and addiction. These include psychopharmacology, recreational therapy, art therapy, music therapy, drama therapy and 12 step integration. These therapeutic modalities allow clients to further express thoughts and emotions through a holistic approach. These are just some of the ways in which Beachway therapy center promotes a holistic approach of treating the entire individual. These services allow for the client to develop a stronger sense of self-identity, self-esteem and self-confidence.
