Laurie Spataro, primary therapist at Beachway Therapy Center, is known for her firm yet deeply compassionate approach to helping clients achieve and maintain sobriety. A mental health professional since 2001, Laurie brings to her role a wealth of experience that includes five years in the specific field of substance use disorders. She has previously served as a technician, scheduler, supervisor, case coordinator, program director, and lead therapist.
Laurie earned her master’s degree in human services counseling from Liberty University, and she is currently completing a second master’s degree, also from Liberty, in professional counseling. She is a certified master’s level addition professional (MCAP) and an international certified alcohol and drug counselor (ICADC), as well as a substance abuse professional (SAP) certified to perform assessments for the Department of Transportation. She has also earned e-therapist certification (CET), qualifying her to provide psychological advice and support online.
Laurie’s areas of specialty include trauma and Christian counseling, and she also enjoys leading interactive emotional support groups. Also a part-time professional photographer, Laurie encourages clients to explore nature and photography – “looking at life through a different lens” – as a means of improving their mindfulness, relaxation, and self-esteem.
