Dr. Timothy Anderson, Medical Director (MD, MPH)
After graduating St Louis University School of Medicine in 1977 he did residency training at University of Miami. Dr. Anderson practiced general medicine for 16 years on the west coast of Florida near Tampa. In 2000 he began a second residency in Public Health at Nova University receiving Masters of Public Health degree. Since achieving Board Certification in 2003 he has been involved in all areas of Addiction Medicine. He has been Medical director of several in-patient facilities: The Hanley Center, Archstone, Palm Beach Institute.
Carrie Carlton, Clinical Director (LCSW)
Carrie is the Clinical Supervisor at Beachway and holds a BSW and MSW in social work from Florida Atlantic University, a MA from Barry University (Miami), and is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. She also has a background in medical social work. Her understanding of cognitive behavioral therapy, solution focused therapy, and family systems guides her treatment of addicts and families. Her clients thrive under her guidance because of her honesty, empathy, and compassion. Recognizing the severe impact of addictions on both the addict and the families, Carrie is dedicated to consistently serve her clients.
Maggie Votteler, Program Director (MS, Clinical Psychology)
Maggie has been in South Florida since 2000 and brings a unique blend of experience that includes therapeutically working with groups and individuals who are dealing with substance abuse, mental health and thought disorders, as well as contract management and program specialization for a county-wide system of care. Her research interests have included mindfulness, the benefits of mindful behaviors to alleviate a variety of symptoms such as depression, anxiety, and chronic pain. She believes the power of health and healing is within each individual and is grateful for the opportunity to work with those in need of treatment.
Brian Esposito, Primary Counselor (CAC, ICRC-ADC)
For over three years, Brian has been a valued member of the Beachway staff, fulfilling several positions. Beginning as a behavioral health technician, he was quickly promoted to the position of supervisor over behavioral health because of his dedication and understanding of substance abuse. Following this, he gained the promotion of therapist, in which he continues to expand his education in social work and understanding of addictions. His keen understanding of family counseling, cognitive behavioral therapy, relapse prevention, and group dynamics makes him a invaluable member of the Beachway therapy team.
Brian McSwain, Primary Therapist (MA)
Brian holds an MA from Palm Beach Atlantic University and is a Mental Health Counselor for Beachway. Brian brings extensive experience in cognitive behavioral therapy and treating mental health problems to his clients. Deeply compassionate to the needs of an addict, Brian guides his clients through a process of action, self-awareness, and accountability through the twelve-step program to a point of life-long sobriety. Brian also understands the impact of addictions on the addict’s family and works with the entire family to achieve sobriety and prevent relapse.
Aimee Jones, Primary therapist (LCSW)
Aimee’s passion is to offer hope from addiction and a clear path to sobriety and wholeness for addicts and their families. She earned a MSW in Social Work from Florida Atlantic University and is a clinical social worker specializing in addictions. Her understanding and experience with addictions, mental health issues, co-occurring disorders, and personality disorders is invaluable to her clients at Beachway. Some of the therapies she regularly integrates into her methodology include narrative therapy, behavior therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, and twelve-step principles. She is a member of a number of organizations: the National Association of Social Workers, the Phi-Alpha National Social Work Honor Society, and the National Alliance on Mental Illness.
Michael Ferri; Director of “Healing Through The Arts” Program; Psychodrama Facilitator
Michael’s dedication to the arts and to the clients at Beachway have resulted in a wonderful psychodrama program that enables addicts to unite to their “true self” through the creative process. Michel graduated from the American Academy of Dramatic Arts (New York City) and has four decades of experience in television, theater, and film. For nearly two decades, he taught improv and drama throughout Europe and the United States, where his visual art exhibitions have also appeared. His contribution to the art therapy programs at Beachway are invaluable!
Deborah Purcell; Associate Director of Admissions, CAC Intern
Deborah received her BA from Central Pennsylvania College, and serves as our Associate Director of Admissions. A Beachway alumni, Deborah continues living in recovery as she works towards her CAC (Certified Addiction Counselor) license.
Bruce Santiago, Primary Therapist (LMHC)
Bruce is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor with over 15 years of experience servicing the mental health and substance abuse community. Bruce’s growth in the mental health field began with a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from the University of Puerto Rico and Master’s degree in Mental Health Counseling from Nova Southeastern University. Over his clinical years Bruce has provided his services to adults and adolescents from various levels of care using many different approaches. As part of his accomplishments, he helped develop and conserve a residential substance abuse program for a successful psychiatric hospital in Fort Lauderdale, Florida in the past 7 years. Bruce has been able to utilize his Hispanic heritage by being involved in the Hispanic community assisting victims of domestic violence and mental health issues. Bruce Santiago is very proud and thrilled to form part of a highly devoted group of clinical professionals at Beachway Therapy Center.
John has received his BA from Florida State University. Beginning as a Behavioral Health Tech, he now assists with case management and the intake department and is working toward his CAC (Certified Addiction Counselor) license. John is a Beachway alumni with a passion for helping others succeed in recovery.
David Mazgajewski started working with Beachway in April 2013. In that time, he’s had multiple responsibilities within the company. He received his BSW from FAU in 2013, and his MSW in 2015. He is currently the IOP/OP therapist at Beachway. This job allows him to work with clients who have made the decision to continue their aftercare at Beachway, an important part of the recovery process. He works diligently with clients in developing life skills, holding them accountable and promoting an active recovery program. All elements for sustainable and lasting recovery. He is a big advocate of having fun in recovery, and encourages all of his clients to engage in sober activities/hobbies.
James began working for Beachway as a part-time weekend Behavior Health Technician. Soon after he moved into the position of an Intake Coordinator, joining Beachway full-time. He has since been promoted to manage the Resource Center and is now the Alumni Coordinator as well. His friendly demeanor, passion for helping those in need, creativity and work ethic bring value to Beachway. He is always looking for new ways to help support the growth of our clients, in treatment and beyond, as Alumni start on their path to recovery. He is passionate about community service and is currently working towards a Masters in Social Work at Florida Atlantic University. His personal focus is providing support to the clients by providing resources, vocational training and life skills that are essential to bridging the gap between treatment and the real world.
Jana began working at Beachway in early 2014 as a Behavioral Health Tech. Jana also has additional experience outside of Beachway working with people in treatment and in recovery. Being in long term recovery herself, Jana has a passion for sharing her ability to translate her own experience with the 12-step program and how it works. Early in her own recovery Jana began using meditation and prayer in her own program. Meditation became a daily practice and she is now achieving her certification as a Meditation Instructor at the University of Holistic Theology. She has implemented an instruction class for our clients guiding them in meditation and teaching them about the benefits of meditation and how it works hand and hand with the 12 steps. She also makes them aware of the physical and mental health benefits of a meditation practice. In addition, Jana is a BioSound Technologies Technician in which she is able to introduce clients to meditation and help them learn a Bio Feedback technique to assist them with relapse prevention.
Robin Balva, Case manager (M.A., CAC)
Robin was born and raised in Belle Harbor, NY. After graduating from SUNY Binghamton with a bachelor’s degree in psychology, Robin continued her education at NYU, where she received her master’s degree. Robin has been working at Beachway since 2014 and has held various positions, including overnight Behavioral Health Technician and Intake Coordinator. Robin is a certified addiction counselor and is currently a Case Manager at Beachway. In her role, she enjoys working one-on-one with clients to alleviate the stress of external difficulties by taking care of legal issues, disability benefits, unemployment status, and discharge plans. Robin looks forward to continuing her career with Beachway and to continuing helping clients.
Our CEO brings years of knowledge, understanding, and experience to meet the needs of our clients at Beachway Therapy Center. With a personal motto of “help the suffering addict and alcoholic,” Denis willingly goes to any length to assist addicts on their personal road to recovery. Denis has a special understanding of the aftercare treatment that our clients require to maintain sobriety. He is involved with a hands-on approach to our sober-living facilities in Delray Beach so he can meet the needs of our clients even after they leave the initial treatment phase. Within our community, Denis has a high level of credibility because of his dedication to the care and support of the addict and alcoholic.
Pamela Egan; Chief Operating Officer
Our COO brings over ten years of invaluable experience founding and running new businesses to the Beachway team. Pamela’s business expertise has been instrumental in building Beachway Therapy Center to the outstanding facility that it is today. She passionately and tireless works to create a homey living experience to aid in the recovery of Beachway’s clientele. Pamela earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Lynn University (Boca Raton, FL) and puts that education to work for Beachway. On her own recovery journey from addiction, Pamela is dedicated to the mission of Beachway Therapy Center.
Olivia Holmes; Chief Financial Officer
Our CFO, Olivia Holmes, received a BA in Psychology from Florida Atlantic University. She has many years of leadership experience managing employees. The staff and clients at Beachway thrive in the stress-free work and living environments Olivia creates at Beachway.
