Meet the Beachway Staff

Beachway is proud to have on staff some of the most knowledgeable professionals in the industry. We hire only the best professionals with years of addiction treatment experience and education. Many have their own successful rehabilitation stories to inspire others. Rest assured: when you receive treatment at Beachway, you are getting first-class care from our unsurpassed staff who deeply cares for the health and success of their clients.

Clinical Staff

Dr. Duy Nguyen, D.O.

Dr. Duy Nguyen, D.O. is a Board Certified Psychiatrist in General Psychiatry who has experience with providing psychiatric care in a variety of settings including residential drug and alcohol rehabilitation, inpatient and outpatient mental health, and the VA Medical Center. Dr. Nguyen obtained a Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Kansas, a Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine Degree from the Kansas City University of Medicine & Biosciences, and completed general psychiatry training in South Florida at the Palm Beach Consortium for Graduate Medical Education at University Hospital in Tamarac, FL. Dr. Nguyen is committed to providing a high level of evidence-based psychiatric care in the drug rehabilitation setting in addition to having a holistic focus on healing and recovery.

Carrie Carlton, Clinical Director (LCSW)

Carrie is the Clinical Supervisor at Beachway and holds a BSW and MSW in social work from Florida Atlantic University, a MA from Barry University (Miami), and is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. She also has a background in medical social work. Her understanding of cognitive behavioral therapy, solution focused therapy, and family systems guides her treatment of addicts and families. Her clients thrive under her guidance because of her honesty, empathy, and compassion. Recognizing the severe impact of addictions on both the addict and the families, Carrie is dedicated to consistently serve her clients.

Claudia Cassagnol, LPN

Claudia is the Program Nurse at Beachway Therapy Center. She studied international relations and business in Germany, but decided later to follow her lifelong dream of becoming a nurse. She has been working in the Addiction/Dual Diagnosis Treatment field for several years now and is very passionate about what she does. She advocates for her patients and works hand in hand with our Medical Director and Clinical Team to ensure that our clients receive the best possible medical care, while battling their addiction.

Brian Esposito, Primary Counselor (CAC, ICRC-ADC)

For over three years, Brian has been a valued member of the Beachway staff, fulfilling several positions. Beginning as a behavioral health technician, he was quickly promoted to the position of supervisor over behavioral health because of his dedication and understanding of substance abuse. Following this, he gained the promotion of therapist, in which he continues to expand his education in social work and understanding of addictions. His keen understanding of family counseling, cognitive behavioral therapy, relapse prevention, and group dynamics makes him a invaluable member of the Beachway therapy team.

Brian McSwain, Primary Therapist (MA) & LMHC (Licensed Mental Health Counselor)

Brian holds an MA from Palm Beach Atlantic University and is a Mental Health Counselor for Beachway. Brian brings extensive experience in cognitive behavioral therapy and treating mental health problems to his clients. Deeply compassionate to the needs of an addict, Brian guides his clients through a process of action, self-awareness, and accountability through the twelve-step program to a point of life-long sobriety. Brian also understands the impact of addictions on the addict’s family and works with the entire family to achieve sobriety and prevent relapse.

Michael Ferri; Director of “Healing Through The Arts” Program; Psychodrama Facilitator

Michael’s dedication to the arts and to the clients at Beachway have resulted in a wonderful psychodrama program that enables addicts to unite to their “true self” through the creative process. Michel graduated from the American Academy of Dramatic Arts (New York City) and has four decades of experience in television, theater, and film. For nearly two decades, he taught improv and drama throughout Europe and the United States, where his visual art exhibitions have also appeared. His contribution to the art therapy programs at Beachway are invaluable!

Debby MacNeil, Admissions Director (CAC, ICRC-ADC)

Debby has a passion for helping others and has been doing just that with Beachway for 6 years, she now leads the Admissions team as Admissions Director. Not only has she flourished as a value to our center, she is an alumni of it. Debby went through our program in 2011 and has realized a life of sobriety, growth and happiness ever since. In addition, she has also gone on to graduate from The Academy for Addiction Professionals in late 2014. As a Certified Addiction Counselor Debby is an asset to those who seek Beachway for professional care. Debby has a passion for what she does and for the life that she now lives due to her embrace of sobriety. She is a testament that recovery is possible.

Mark Fanali Client Care Coordinator

Mark Fanali has been with Beachway for the last 8 years. Starting at Beachway as a Tech, which gave him the opportunity to begin working in the field he was truly passionate about, while simultaneously helping others. Moving up from working as Tech, to Tech Supervisor, to now being the Client Care Coordinator. Mark assists in helping acclimate/orient clients to treatment, facilitating groups, assisting clients in advocating, and managing client accounts. “I love working hands on with the clients and making an impact on the beginning of their recovery journey. Nothing touches my heart more than watching our clients grow into the men and women I know they can be.”

Megan Pastore Director of Human Resources (PHR, SHRM-CP)

Megan Pastore, Director of Human Resources, is an accomplished HR professional with over 15 years of experience in the public and private sectors. Megan is responsible for implementing human resource management strategies that enable Beachway Therapy Center to recruit, train, and retain a high performing and motivated workforce. Megan specializes in talent management, staffing, employee benefits, and employee development for the healthcare industry.

Megan holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Nova Southeastern University. She is certified through the Human Resource Certification Institute as a Human Resource Professional (PHR) and is a Certified Professional with the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM-CP).

David Mazgajewski, Therapist (MSW; IOP/OP)

David Mazgajewski started working with Beachway in April 2013. In that time, he’s had multiple responsibilities within the company. He received his BSW from FAU in 2013, and his MSW in 2015. He is currently the IOP/OP therapist at Beachway. This job allows him to work with clients who have made the decision to continue their aftercare at Beachway, an important part of the recovery process. He works diligently with clients in developing life skills, holding them accountable and promoting an active recovery program. All elements for sustainable and lasting recovery. He is a big advocate of having fun in recovery, and encourages all of his clients to engage in sober activities/hobbies.

John Arthur, Case manager (CAC, ICRC-ADC)

John has received his BA from Florida State University. Beginning as a Behavioral Health Tech, he now assists with case management and the intake department and is working toward his CAC (Certified Addiction Counselor) license. John is a Beachway alumni with a passion for helping others succeed in recovery.

James Waterman; Alumni Coordinator

James began working for Beachway as a part-time weekend Behavior Health Technician. Soon after he moved into the position of an Intake Coordinator, joining Beachway full-time. He has since been promoted to manage the Resource Center and is now the Alumni Coordinator as well. His friendly demeanor, passion for helping those in need, creativity and work ethic bring value to Beachway. He is always looking for new ways to help support the growth of our clients, in treatment and beyond, as Alumni start on their path to recovery. He is passionate about community service and is currently working towards a Masters in Social Work at Florida Atlantic University. His personal focus is providing support to the clients by providing resources, vocational training and life skills that are essential to bridging the gap between treatment and the real world.

Robin Balva, Case manager (M.A., CAC)

Robin was born and raised in Belle Harbor, NY. After graduating from SUNY Binghamton with a bachelor’s degree in psychology, Robin continued her education at NYU, where she received her master’s degree. Robin has been working at Beachway since 2014 and has held various positions, including overnight Behavioral Health Technician and Intake Coordinator. Robin is a certified addiction counselor and is currently a Case Manager at Beachway. In her role, she enjoys working one-on-one with clients to alleviate the stress of external difficulties by taking care of legal issues, disability benefits, unemployment status, and discharge plans. Robin looks forward to continuing her career with Beachway and to continuing helping clients.

Elizabeth McCann, Primary Therapist (LMHC)

Elizabeth has been working in the substance abuse and mental health field for six years. She is passionate about working with individuals struggling with addiction, with an ability to provide individualized care to those she works with. Elizabeth also believes in the importance of including any specific family dynamic issues, due to the understanding that addiction is a family disease.

Elizabeth received a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from the University of Miami and continued to pursue a Master’s degree in Counseling Psychology from Palm Beach Atlantic University. Elizabeth uses evidence-based approaches when treating individuals, including CBT, DBT, REBT, and Motivational Interviewing. Elizabeth is a strong believer in addressing underlying core issues to promote healing for those she works with, while building self-love and positive thinking pathways to nurture a secure recovery foundation.

Keith Wall, Therapist (MSW)

Keith has worked in many different roles upon entering the field, and quickly became passionate about this line of work. Keith stepped away from the field in the late 2000’s. However, Keith was destined to renter a field he was so passionate about. Keith enrolled in graduate school at Florida Atlantic University to acquire his MSW degree. Keith returned to substance abuse in 2017 as a Primary Therapist, after working with children and families involved in the legal system. Keith has extensive knowledge on the physical and emotional symptoms of addiction. Keith utilizes therapeutic approaches including; CBT, Motivational Interviewing, 12-step facilitation therapy, and solution focused therapy. Keith is a firm believes in treating the entire client, as well as their family. In Keith’s down time he enjoys fitness, the outdoors, and his family.

Will Shlifer, Group Facilitator (LCSW,CAP)

Drawing from a decade of experience in the field of substance abuse treatment, William (Will) E. Shlifer, LCSW, CAP offers a variety of services to help individuals with addiction issues, including group counseling, individual counseling, and coaching services. He specializes in treating addiction and substance abuse with co-occurring depression, anxiety, and mood disorders.

Will earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Maryland in 2002 and his Master of Social Work at Barry University in 2010. Will is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) and a Certified Addiction Professional (CAP), has received specialty training in Relapse Prevention (CENAPS) by Gorski, and is in the process of obtaining his license in trauma resolution and therapy (CTT).

Throughout his work in substance abuse, Will’s focus has been helping those who struggle with addiction, while resolving the underlying issues of each individual he treats. As a dedicated professional, he has helped hundreds of clients recover from addiction and build healthy, happy, and productive lives.

Jason Rowland, Behavioral Health Technician Director

Jason received his BA from ABAC University of Thailand. Starting his journey with Beachway as a Behavioral Health Technician, Jason is currently our Tech Director, aiding in admissions, and is pursuing his CAC (Certified Addiction Counselor) license. “Having suffered loss of family members due to the disease of addiction, I have a strong sense of empathy for our clients and help to ensure that everyone is treated with dignity and respect during their time with us”.

Executive Staff

Denis Holmes; Chief Executive Officer

Our CEO brings years of knowledge, understanding, and experience to meet the needs of our clients at Beachway Therapy Center. With a personal motto of “help the suffering addict and alcoholic,” Denis willingly goes to any length to assist addicts on their personal road to recovery. Denis has a special understanding of the aftercare treatment that our clients require to maintain sobriety. He is involved with a hands-on approach to our sober-living facilities in Delray Beach so he can meet the needs of our clients even after they leave the initial treatment phase. Within our community, Denis has a high level of credibility because of his dedication to the care and support of the addict and alcoholic.

Pamela Egan; Chief Operating Officer

Our COO brings over ten years of invaluable experience founding and running new businesses to the Beachway team. Pamela’s business expertise has been instrumental in building Beachway Therapy Center to the outstanding facility that it is today. She passionately and tireless works to create a homey living experience to aid in the recovery of Beachway’s clientele. Pamela earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Lynn University (Boca Raton, FL) and puts that education to work for Beachway. On her own recovery journey from addiction, Pamela is dedicated to the mission of Beachway Therapy Center.
