Childhood Trauma & Sexual Abuse: Warning Signs Parents Should Know

Beachway therapist Kim Litton, LCSW, CAP, CSAT, recently joined CBS12 News to discuss the warning signs of child sexual abuse and the lasting impact trauma can have throughout a person’s life. Kim shared guidance for parents on recognizing meaningful changes in a child’s behavior, creating an environment where children feel safe speaking up, and teaching healthy boundaries from an early age. Drawing on her work with trauma, addiction, and compulsive behaviors, she also discussed how unresolved childhood trauma can continue to affect relationships, self-esteem, and coping behaviors well into adulthood.
